The Higgins family have been butchers since 1880, when the business began in Baldoyle. Today Rick Higgins, the fourth generation, runs Higgins Family Butchers at Sutton Cross.

At Christmas, that craft meets a puzzle every butcher knows. Customers order a turkey, a ham, a rib of beef. But nobody knows the exact price until it’s on the scales.

Deposit now. Weigh on the day.

So Rick takes a deposit when the order is placed online. On collection day, each order is weighed, and the customer pays the balance there and then.

Everything else runs like any Tenvito order book:

  • Cut-off dates close orders in time to prepare.
  • Itemised lists tell the team exactly what to cut and pack.
  • Every order gets its own packing slip.
  • Collection time slots spread customers through the day.
  • Confirmations go out automatically.

The difference showed on the 23rd of December, normally one of the longest days of the year.

We all left at 6pm on the button when normally on the 23rd it’s about 8pm when we’re getting out all because of the new system, it was very calm all day & everyone stuck to their time slots so it was much easier. Don’t know why he didn’t do this years ago! Lol Honestly though we can’t thank you enough, it was an absolute breeze & tomorrow going to be even easier…

As Rick puts it:

I’ve recently moved our Christmas ordering system over to Tenvito. They’ve taken the stress out of something that could have been very complicated and turned it into a smooth part of my business. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Four generations of craft. One calm Christmas.
